WRITERS MENTORING
Learning the craft of writing is only part of the story on your writing journey; maintaining the focus and commitment to continue as well as taking time to nurture your creativity will help you fulfill your potential. Mentoring can also play an important role and having been mentored myself, I understand how valuable this creative collaboration can be.
As an internationally published author, scriptwriter, and producer, I bring decades of storytelling experience through roles on film and TV productions as well as from writing five published novels. This experience is complimented by a solid foundation of learning from an MA in Creative Writing from UTS and an MA in Film & Television from the University of Westminster. I am also an alumna of the Faber Academy in Sydney and learned TV writing at AFTRS in Sydney and drama writing with Curtis Brown Creative in London. My pilot script, Hitler’s Gift, based on my fourth novel, Esther’s Children, was recently shortlisted in the US Writers Lab 2024.
Prior to writing fiction, I worked in documentary, film, and drama, originating ideas as well as developing third party projects. I held the roles of Head of Development at Winchester Pictures and Brighter Pictures (part of Endemol Group) in the UK and was Head of Television Development for Becker Entertainment Group, one of Australia’s leading production houses.
I am a passionate believer in lifelong learning and feel excited to share my knowledge, experience and insights with aspiring writers.
The mentoring program is best suited to emerging writers who have started a project and have written some of their draft although it can also be adapted for beginners. The program is structured as six sessions over a twelve-week period. Each fortnight a one-hour zoom will focus on specific topics, include feedback from submitted work of up to five thousand words and set exercises that can be completed in your own time.

- Session Two: World building and minor characters
- Session Three: Structuring your novel
- Session Four: Plot and narrative arcs
- Session Five: Your voice and the hook
- Session Six: The ending, editing and rewriting
There is some flexibility in the program so that we can design it together to best meet your needs; I want you to get as much as you can out of the course to help you in your writing goals.

IN PERSON EVENTS
Caroline has been a guest speaker at the Scone Literary Festival, the Food & Words Festival, the Jessie Street National Womens’ Library, the Faber Academy, and has given presentations at other libraries and events. She recently gave author talks on her latest novel at Avalon Community Library and as part of the Lunchtime Lecture series at the Sydney Jewish Museum. Her book tours have taken her from Shepparton and Echuca Libraries in country Victoria, and the First Tuesday Book Club in Melbourne, to Waterstones in London, England.
BOOK GROUP EVENTS
If you are reading one of Caroline’s books and would like her to participate in your book club via zoom, then please contact her. There won’t be a cost, as long as the book group are all happy to buy a copy of the book and Caroline would be most grateful if attendees post reviews on Goodreads, social media or wherever they bought the book.
The typical running order would be for the group to send a zoom link for Caroline to join the group. She will give a brief introduction to the book, her inspiration and writing process. Then she’ll open the discussion and members can share their thoughts and ask questions. Caroline will usually stay for 30-60 minutes depending on the size of the group.
